Location

The YAVARI is moored in the Bay of Puno on the north west shore of Lake Titicaca. Puno, a town of 100,000 inhabitants is the departure point for the Floating Island of Los Uros, the islands of Taquile, Amantani and Suasi. It is within easy reach of many important archeological and cultural sites including Tiwanaku, the chullpas of Sillustani and the notable mestizo-baroque churches of Lampa, Juli, Pomata and Zepita.

It is the third most popular tourist destination in Peru and lies on the route between Cuzco, near the Inca Capital of Machu Picchu, and Copacabana and La Paz in Bolivia. It offers the 5* Hotel Libertador and several 3 * hotels including the Hotel Colon, Eco-Inn Sonesta Posada del Inca and the Ferrocarill, together with many excellent restaurants.

Access to Puno:

By air to Juliaca (from Lima 1 hr. 45 mins, from Arequipa 20 mins.). Juliaca is 45 minutes from Puno by road.
By road from Arequipa (6 hrs), Cuzco (6 hrs.) and La Paz (6 hrs.)
