Missing Persons
On the 28th June 1862, a team of eight intrepid engineers, including iron ship builders and boilermakers sailed forth from the River Thames on the “Mayola” bound for Peru and the Andean highlands. Their job, to supervise the building of a jetty, slipway and machine shop before assembling the YAVARI and Yapura.
Only a handful of western explorers and scientists had been there before them. They were pioneers on a four-year contract and after them came others, some never to return. WHERE ARE THEIR DESCENDANTS NOW? We are most anxious to hear from anyone who believes they are related to:
